Hunger and Thirst is Good – for what?
” Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”
We all are in need of certain essentials for a daily life viz air to breathe, food to eat, water to drink and a shelter to live. The most important of all these for every human to live is GODS WORD.
STAY HUNGRY AND THIRSTY EVERYDAY FOR THE WORD OF GOD.
Many of us wonder why should I do a Bible study or participate in it? Everyday I used to read my Bible and pray. Is that not enough? How does this benefit me?
A Frank question for all of us to answer.. How many of us meditate on the word of God?
To be pondered: Meditating is different from reading.
Here’s the answer for all our queries
John 5:39 ” You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me,”
If we want ETERNAL LIFE we need to search for the ever living resource that’s GOD’S WORDS
Psalms 1:2 quotes so … ” ….. whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night”
In what ways does god’s word nurture us?
2 Timothy 3:16&17 says ” All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
1) Helps us to know in depth about our Lord. (Refer Proverbs 2:1-5)
2) Transformation occurs in god’s own way. Cleanses us from all evil and sinful desires.(Ref Hebrews 4:12)
3) The inner thought of being God’s disciple is provoked. Since each of us are called to be God’s disciple. (Refer James1:22)
4) A personal answer would be obtained to all our queries. ( Isaiah 55:11)
As we meditate and share god’s words it penetrates in our hearts and others, in order to transform our lives in the way Jesus would prefer it to be. Listening and Sharing what God is speaking is the vital responsibility of our lives.
In what manner do we handle His word?
2 Timothy 2:15
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth”
Each and every word in the Bible has been scripted by the Holy Spirit. All what we need in our life has been wrapped and given in our hand. We are intended to invite holy spirit to speak to us and through us when we handle God’s words.
Imagine how we would appear for an interview in a Multinational company that would provide us with a great package.
Aren’t we intended to meditate and speak god’s word with more fear and reverence?
Seconds may vanish without smiles, hours may hop out with hunger, days may run ruggedly, months may mist off with mournings and years may pass away with problems but amidst all these the only permanent pacemaker for every human is God’s words.
As the psalmist says 119:18 ” Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law”
Thus we are debted to pray since the gift of eternal life can be obtained only by abiding by God’s word.
